Firm commissions N6.1b facility, pledges support for sport development
Ijaiye Housing Estate Grammar School, Lagos, is host to the N6.1 billion sports facility commissioned by Maltina recently.
The multi-million-naira equipment was donated by the firm to the school on behalf one of its students, Joy Ojo, who emerged the overall national best athlete in the Maltina School Game competition held earlier in the year.
The sporting equipment includes table tennis, sport kits, track and field materials, kits and vests, amongst others.
Speaking on the occasion, Trade Marketing Manager and Strategic Programmes, Nigeria Breweries, Charles Nwachukwu, said they were committed to discovering talents in schools that would make Nigeria proud on the international stage.
On his part, Principal of the school, O.O. Oyetunde, said they wouldn’t relent in maintaining their leadership position when it comes to sports in Lagos and Nigeria.
He expressed confidence that his students would always come back victorious as constant training and grooming was the operating philosophy in the school.
President, Nigerian School Sports Federation, Joseph Olabisi, who said school sport gives an all-round development for students, called on corporate brands to emulate Maltina by supporting school sports to accelerate sports development in the country.
