First CBN champion Ajayi passes on
The first winner of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Senior Championships and former national champion, Kehinde Ajayi, has passed on.
The former national tennis champion died after a brief illness. He was 73 years old.
Current and former tennis players, coaches and administrators were at the Rowe Park Sports Centre on Friday for the lying-in-state ceremony of the late Ajayi.
A former Ogun State and national coach, Kehinde Ake and tennis administrator and ITF rated umpire, Godwin Kienka, were among the top dignitaries who were present at Rowe Park to pay last respect to the deceased coach.
“He was a great man who produced many champions for the country. He lived a good life serving his people, “ Kienka said.
Ajayi was buried on Friday, at the Atan Cemetary after a colourful lying-in-state ceremony at the Rowe Park Sports Centre in Yaba.
