Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena is the sole candidate for the 2028 Champions League final, while Wembley and the renovated Camp Nou are both vying for the 2029 final, UEFA said on Friday.
Munich was the only city that stepped forward for the 2028 final after hosting it in 2025 when Paris Saint-Germain thrashed Inter Milan 5-0.
Munich also hosted the elite European club final in 1979, 1993, and 1997 in the Olympic Stadium and in 2012 and 2025 at the Allianz Arena.
This season, the final is scheduled for the Puskas Arena in Budapest, while the Metropolitano in Madrid will host in 2027.
UEFA will decide between London and Barcelona for the 2029 final in September 2026.
Meanwhile, World football governing body, FIFA, has urged fans intending to be part of the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico to visit the countries’ websites to know the entry requirements for each of the host nations during the championship.
The United States, Canada, and Mexico are co-hosting the World Cup, billed to be held in different cities next year. FIFA clarified yesterday that “a match ticket does not guarantee admission to a host country,” saying that “fans should visit each host country’s government website for entry requirements.
It also advised fans to visit “FIFA.com/tickets for FAQ, Official Rules of the Early Ticket Draw, and full terms and conditions for the purchase of FIFA World Cup 26 tickets. No purchase is necessary to enter the draw, and fans must be 18 years old or older to enter.”
The body said that the early ticket draw entry period has opened and will run through October 31. It added: “This phase is open to all fans, and includes a host country domestic exclusivity time slot for residents of Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
“Once the entry period is closed, residents of the host countries who have entered the Early Ticket Draw will be eligible via a randomised selection process for a domestic priority time slot starting on 12 November.
“This timeslot is open for 72 hours, subject to inventory. Fans who are successful with their entry will receive confirmation at least 48 hours prior to the time slot.
“During this domestic exclusivity time slot, fans from each host country with successful entries will have the chance to purchase available Single Match Tickets for games taking place within their country of residence.
“Cross-nation tickets will not be available during the domestic priority time slot. Seventy-five percent of the Single Match Tickets for this phase will be made available during the domestic exclusivity time slot.”
2026 World Cup Chief Operating Officer, Heimo Schirgi, noted the massive interest from around the world for the tournament, especially from within the host countries, as Canada, Mexico, and the United States prepare to host the biggest FIFA World Cup yet.
