Chukwu advises NFF to monitor players’ invitation to Eagles

FORMER Super Eagles coach, Christian Chukwu, has called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to pay more attention to the process players are invited to the Super Eagles, saying that sentiments in the selection of players is one of the anomalies in the team.

  He noted that the foreign and domestic players needed to be given equal opportunities to contest for shirts in the Eagles, saying that any coach picked eventually to handle the national team should guide against crowding the team with all manner of players.

   Chukwu explained that for a coach to succeed in transforming the Eagles, he must lay emphasis on getting experienced and committed players that would give good account of themselves in all the departments of the team.

 He also enjoined the NFF to ensure the Super Eagles got all the assistance needed to return to change the fortunes of the team, arguing that Nigeria has abundant talents to build a formidable team.

 According to him, “Any coach chosen for take the Eagles should concentrate on inviting quality players for the key departments of the team. A coach does not have to invite all the foreign-based players in the world to get the best. Domestic players also have a major role to play in the Eagles. Foreign-based players are only needed to take charge of those departments where the coaches feel the domestic players cannot handle. 

  “What I am saying is that for the Super Eagles to get out of its present predicaments, the NFF need to ensure that only the best legs are invited to play for the country.’’
