Super Eagles duo of Ademola Lookman and Troost Ekong have been shortlisted for the FIFA Best Attacker and Defenders of 2024 by the global governing body.

The former Fulham forward is currently ranked 14th in the 2024 Ballon d’Or standings and leads the pack in the CAF African Footballer of the Year award. Additionally, the 27-year-old striker is in contention for the Serie A Player of the Year.

Lookman’s Super Eagles teammate, William Ekong, has also been nominated in the defenders’ category. The former Udinese center-back is also on the shortlist for the 2024 CAF Player of the Year award.

Ekong was named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the 2023 AFCON. This week, Ademola Lookman has also been nominated for the Serie A Player of the Month for November, following his impressive performances against Napoli and Parma.
