Mimiko reaffirms commitment to grassroots football development
ONDO State Governor, Olusegun Mimiko, has reaffirmed his government’s commitment towards the development of football in every nook and cranny of the state.
Speaking at the flag-off and commissioning of the rebranded academy teams of the state football agency across the three senatorial districts, Mimiko commended the agency, led by Akin Akinbobola, for turning the state the hub of football in the country.
The teams unveiled include Rising Stars Academy, Rising Sun Academy of Akokoland and Rising Tornadoes of Okitipupa.
Mimiko, represented by his Chief of Staff, Kola Ademujimi, said the government had touched every sector of the economy to move the state forward, especially in the area of football development and empowerment.
Also speaking at the event, the state’s Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Bekekhimi Idiarhi, while commending the vision of Mimiko, said the ministry was impressed with the activities of the football agency adding that it would continue to support the dream of the agency.
Idiarhi said investment in the future of youths of Ondo State remained the priority of the ministry and would continue to work hard to realise the set objectives.
In his reply, the ODSFA Chairman, Akin Akinbobola, said the mission of the agency was to make the state the ‘baker’ of young football talents, adding that the agency is poised to discover talented footballers, who will in future be part of the national teams’ set up in the country.
