Red House wins Princetons College’s sports fair
ACTIVITIES marking the third annual inter-house sports competition of Princeton’s College came to a grand close at the Union Bank Sports Complex in Surulere, Lagos with Red House dominating the multi-sport competition.
The highly competitive sports fair, which was sponsored exclusively by the flagship Chikki Noodles brand, afforded students of the institution the rare opportunity to exercise and interface with the teachers, parents and visiting friends and colleagues from other schools in the area.
At the end of the fierce competition in no less than 20 different sporting events, Red House garnered a total of 51 medals, comprising 30 gold, 14 silver and eight bronze.
They were followed closely by Green House, which placed second with 34 medals, comprising nine Gold, 14 Silver and 11 bronze, while Blue House placed third with 37 medals including seven gold, 13 silver and 17 bronze.
Aside winning the over all title, Red House’ athlete, Olorogun Abimbola, emerged the Best Female Athlete of the year 2015, while Kingsley Amadi of Green House was adjudged Best Male Athlete for the Year.
Among the events competed for by the students were football, table tennis, volleyball, discus, shot put, javelin throw, high jump and athletics. It also featured March Past, Callisthenics display and dance competition.
The sports fair recorded high attendance of visiting students from notable schools across Lagos including Covenant Child Academy, Fountain Height, Penny College, Vineville Academy and May Day College. Others include Glory Land International School, Rainbow College, Select International, and Aquinas Private College.
Among the personalities at the event were popular Radio sports presenter, Obong- Daniel Femi of Cool FM, the Chairman, Parents Teacher’s Association of the college, Mr. Sodipe and representatives of the Lagos State Sports Council.
In his remark, Obong Femi commended founders of the college for their initiative, which is targeted at raising talented leaders for a greater future. He, however, admonished the students to strive harder not only to achieve laurels in sports, but more importantly in their academic pursuits.
