Remo Stars, at the weekend, continued their steady march to their first Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) with an impressive 2-1 defeat of Sunshine Stars ‘away’ from home.

Saturday’s game was stacked against Sunshine Stars, who were forced to host the match at the Remo Sports Complex, their opponent’s home ground, because their Akure Stadium base was deemed inadequate for the game.

This disadvantage played well for Remo Stars, who took the lead as early as the ninth minute of the match through Alex Young Oyowah.

Audu Ibrahim Abubakar doubed Remi Stars’ lead in the 28th minute before Samuel Mathew reduced the tally in the 67th minute.

The win gave Remo Stars an eight-point lead over nearest challengers for the crown, Shooting Stars of Ibadan, who could only manage a 1-1 draw with Plateau United in Jos.

Rivers United, who started the campaign so brightly and at some point led the table with three points.
wara United will host El-Kanemi Warriors.
