Warri Wolves’ Abdulateef lands in Flying Eagles’ U-20 World Cup camp

In a move to fortify his squad ahead of the U-20 World Cup, Flying Eagles head coach, Aliyu Zubair has extended an invitation to Warri Wolves sensation, Yusuf Abdulateef.

Yusuf had an impressive first season in the Nigeria National League (NNL) with Warri Wolves, wherein he was pivotal to the emergence of the club as champions of the 2024/2025 season, winning the Most Valuable Player Award in the Super Eight play-off.

His outstanding performances in the season have now caught the eyes of Zubair, who is currently preparing his side for the Under-20 World Cup slated for September 27 to October 19, 2025 in Chile.

The fast-rising youngster has been on the radar of top clubs with Manchester City, Chelsea, Sheffield United, Norwegian club, Molde Fk and Latvian giants, Riga FC, all monitoring the Nigerian wonderkid.

Abdulateef is an energetic winger blessed with the skillset of a complete wing player. Yusuf’s vision, pace, poise and creativity will no doubt be a huge asset for the Flying Eagles as the team prepare to campaign in the U-20 Mundial in Chile.

His invitation to the National U-20 camp has been described as thrilling by officials of Warri Wolves, as well as Delta Sports Commission.
