IT was thrill and glamour for members of staff and students of Baptist Academy last week, as they gathered to celebrate the 2016 inter-house sports competition of the institution in Lagos.

Baptist Academy is one of the oldest schools in Nigeria, having been established in 1855. That was 161 years ago. The school’s anniversary celebration will come up later in October.

At the end of the inter-house sports competition, which took place at Obanikoro, Lagos, Harden house finished top, while Stone house finished second and Vaughan house third.

The event, according to the Principal of Baptist Academy, Bosede Ladoba, was organized to promote sports in the institution.

It was all excitement as students of the college participated in various sporting events, including long jump, athletics and shot put.

Ladoba said that the inter-house sports would go a long way in instilling confidence in the students who are aiming to pursue a career in sports.

‘’Participating in school sports gives children the chance to discover their talent at tender age. I am delighted that the students gave their best in all the sports they participated today.

“As teachers, we encourage the children to take part in various sporting activities notwithstanding any challenge they face in them. We are also happy that must of the Baptist Academy old students in their 70s and 8os came to grace this occasion,” she said.
