The match, a return leg of the qualifying fixture for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is scheduled for the Lekan Salami Stadium on September 27. The approval was announced following the state’s executive council meeting presided over by the Acting Governor, Abdulraheem Adebayo Lawal.

According to the Council, the hosting will provide the Falconets with a conducive environment for final preparations before the crucial qualifier.
It added that it has approved N110 million to cover logistics, accommodation, feeding, security, and other related expenses during the team’s stay in the state.

Officials noted that hosting the national team not only boosts morale but also encourages local athletes and young football talents within Oyo to aspire to international standards.
