Iheanacho Likely In Man City Squad Against Watford
Newcastle Seek win Against Arsenal
WITH Ivory Coast international, Wilfried Bony, definitely out of the Manchester City squad for their Premier League clash against Watford due to injury, Kelechi Iheanacho is expected to be the main beneficiary.
The Citizens coach Manuel Pellegrini confirmed as much in his pre – match conference, stating that the Flying Eagles star is in the squad list.
“For tomorrow, we have three young players in our squad, because we have a few players who are injured so we have Pablo Maffeo, Patrick Roberts and Kelechi in the squad list,” Manuel Pellegrini told mcfc.co.uk.
According to www.soccernet.com.ng, the 18 – year – old Iheanacho has made each of the 18 – man squad announced by Pellegrini for City’s first three games of the new season but is yet to make his official debut.
In the last two games in the EPL, Bony replaced Agüero in the closing stages.
Meanwhile, Newcastle midfielder Moussa Sissoko faces a late fitness test on a groin problem, as they host Arsenal today at St James’ Park.
Papiss Cisse returns after illness, Daryl Janmaat is available again after a ban and Florian Thauvin could be handed his first Premier League start.
Arsenal may again be without Laurent Koscielny and Per Mertesacker because of injury and illness respectively.
Koscielny, who has a back problem, is the more likely of the two to play, according to manager Arsene Wenger.
Danny Welbeck and Jack Wilshere remain sidelined by injury.
Newcastle will take belief from their performance last weekend as they try to record their first league win under Steve McClaren, though they will be wary of Arsenal’s obvious threat when they do click going forward.
The Gunners haven’t had many recent issues away from home, or over the last few years against Newcastle. They won’t want Petr Cech in the news again this week – they need the headlines at the other end of the pitch.
