FC Inter played four matches en-route the final match. In their first game they played a 1-1 draw with PRODA FC and went on to beat Strikers FC 2-1 in their second match.

The quarterfinal match against Star Plus went into penalty shootout after 1-1 full time and Inter triumphed 5-4 to qualify for the semifinals where they met and grounded Flying Angels 3-0 with goals from Chidera Oko, Chimezie Ugwueze and Emma Ogbodo.

The former NLO side notable for having produced talents like Obinna Nwobodo of Ujpest of Hungary, Emeka Eze Jnr of All Masry of Egypt, Samson Obi of Abia Warriors, and Chidera Nwoga of Leixoes of Portugal, among others, is hoping for the best in the final.

Coach of the side, Joseph ‘Calico’ Inya is banking on all the players to ship in one hundred percent on match day for the trophy.

“I am not banking on a particular player or group of players, I am banking on every player because here at Inter, we do things together and that unity will give us the desired victory,” he said.

Coach Inya will, however, be expecting Team’s leading scorer with three goals, Emma Ogbodo to deliver today.

Club President, Nna Francis Yawe from his base in Spain called on the boys to complete the job.

“Do not rest on your oars but go on to finish the great job you started by lifting the Cup and bringing happiness to our fans,” he wrote in a message to the boys.

Inter won the Enugu State Governor’s Cup (Gburugburu Cup) in 2018 and are hoping to add the 2019 league crown by beating Purple Crown FC.

The final will be played at the Akanu Ibiam Stadium in the University Town of Nsukka.
