Playing like a team infused with the winning bug, the duo of Remi Olukoya and Olateju Ogunwomoju, Nigeria’s representative at this year’s world final of International Pairs competition, held in Alicante, Spain, defied all odds to finish in the third position out of the 14 countries that participated at the event.

Olukoya stood in for Mike Ikpoki, the Managing Director of MTN Nigeria, who couldn’t make the trip. He paired with Ogunwomoju, and despite the new arrangement the team had a good day on the course.

Buoyed by the result, the Chief Executive Officer of Falcon Golf Development Company, the franchise holder in Nigeria, Olukoya described the performance as a good image laundering outing for the country.

“The International Pairs was a very big boost for this country. We got there, flew Nigerian flag proudly and showed the world that we Nigerians also play good golf. And we didn’t just participate we came third among the 14 countries that took part in the competition,” Olukoya said.
