It’s Arsenal Vs Chelsea for Community Shield 2017

Arsenal and Chelsea will square up on Sunday, 6 August, for the annual community shield. Both sides met in the final of the Champions League where Arsenal ran out winners. Chelsea are the current Premier League champions while their London neighbours are the FA Cup holders.

The London based pair met in the traditional curtain-raiser at the Wembley Stadium two years ago. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s goal handed the Gunners the victory as Arsenal defeated the Chelsea side then managed by Jose Mourinho.

Current Boss, Antonio Conte will have to do without the services of new signing Tiemoue Bakayoko and Eden Hazard as both players are still injured.

Chelsea wing-back Victor Moses and Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny are available for selection for both sides despite having suspensions for competitive games as Sunday’s fixture won’t count.
Arsene Wenger and Antonio Conte will be looking to call on both their record signings, Alexander Lacazette (£46.5 million) and Alvaro Morata (£58 million) respectively in this clash.

Alexis Sanchez, who has not lost a game at the Wembley could start from the bench as the Chilean missed just returned to training and most of the pre season. Sanchez alongside Shkodran Mustafi were given extended breaks due to their involvement in the Confederations Cup.

Manchester United are the current holders of the Community Shield, the Red Devils defeated Leicester City.
