Kano Pillars bash Abia Warriors 5-0, FC IfeanyiUbah hold 3SC 2-2

Kano Pillars yesterday at the Sani Abacha Stadium demonstrated that their management’s decision to add two more coaches to their crew was a wise decision when they hammered hapless Abia Warriors 5-0. Unbelievable as the result may look, Pillars would have made it more demeaning for the Umuahia boys if they had utilized all the chances that came their way.

Before yesterday’s game, Coach Babaganaru Muhammad was said to be under pressure to change Pillars’ fortune or be shown the door. Wednesday’s decision to deploy Abdulsalam Abubakar and Hassan Abdullah as assistant coaches to Muhammad was interpreted as the beginning of a move to replace the league winning coach, but with yesterday’s result the club’s decision now looks like the masterstroke needed to rejuvenate the 2014 champions.

Pillars began the move to their biggest win of this season in the 10th minute through a penalty kick converted by home-based Eagles star, Rabiu Ali. The Sai Masu Gida got two quick goals in the 44th and 45th minutes through new signing, Rasaq Adegbite and Bala Zakka respectively to end the first half 3-0.

On resumption, the Kano boys continued from where they stopped with Ali putting the ball behind Abia Warriors’ defenders with ease, but Pillars’ attackers failed to utilize the chances.

However, Pillars scored two more goals towards the end of the game through Rabiu Ali and Nafiu Kabuga in the 82nd and 90th minutes.In Jos, league leaders, Wikki Tourists were brought down to earth when they lost their first game in six matches to Plateau United, who ran away with a 2-0 win at the Rwang Pam Stadium.

The loss, however, did not affect Wikki Tourists’ position on the table as they remain top with 41 points, two more than second placed Enugu Rangers.The win, Plateau United’s second in 11 games, was made possible by Daddy Francis’ 70th minute goal and a 78th minute strike by Anayo Ogbonna.

The game of the day happened in Ibadan, where FC IfeanyiUbah came from 0-2 down to hold Shooting Stars to a 2-2 draw.At the Akure Township Stadium, Dele Olorundare scored twice as Sunshine Stars beat MFM FC 2-0 , just as Nasarawa United defeated Niger Tornadoes 1-0 courtesy of Abdulrahman Bashir’ s first half strike.

Enugu Rangers climbed to the second spot courtesy of a 2-1 defeat of Warri Wolves on Friday, El-Kanemi defeated Lobi Stars 1-0, while Heartland beat Akwa United 2-0.
