Nigerian legend Nwankwo Kanu has congratulated his former manager at Arsenal, Arsene Wenger, over his induction into the Premier League Hall of Fame.

Wenger and former Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson on Wednesday became the first coaches to be inducted into the Premier League Hall of Fame.

Kanu who played under Wenger at Arsenal from February 1999 until the summer of 2004 after his contract with the Gunners ended praised the Frenchman.

“KAN U BELIEVE IT? Richly Deserved. Congratulations to Arsenal Wenger. @premierleauge Hall of fame induction,” Kanu tweeted.

Arguably Nigeria’s greatest footballing export, Kanu enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at Arsenal, winning two Premier League titles and two FA Cups, the first of those as part of a domestic double in 2002.

The two-time African Footballer of the Year would prove a valuable member of the Arsenal squad for six seasons, memorably scoring a brilliant hat-trick in fifteen minutes against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in October 1999.

He played 197 games for Arsenal, scoring 44 goals. Wenger, meanwhile, arrived at Arsenal in 1996 as one of the first foreign managers in the Premier League, staying at the club until 2018.
