In a bid to ensure good health for Oyo pugilists, the principal partner to the Federal Ministry of Youths and Sports Zone 1, Kayrom Lee Nigeria Limited has offered full insurance cover to the five professional boxers that represented the state at the last 18th GOtv Boxing Night recently held at the indoor sports hall of the Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Ibadan.

The five boxers are Ridwan Adekola Scorpion, Akande Jamiu Sunshine, Morufu Owolabi Oloke and Jubril Lukman, popularly known as ‘Terrible.’

Speaking in her office during a reception she held for the boxers and some members of the Oyo State chapter of Nigeria Boxing Board of Control (NBB of C), led by its chairman, Gbenga Opaleye, CEO of Kayrom Lee, Romoke Ayinde expressed concerns over the wellbeing and health status of the boxers considering the hectic
nature of their sport.

She said the prevailing economic situation in the country could affect the boxers’ ability to pay for sound medical care, adding that she would finance a good medical care for the boxers and apparels that they would wear during
bouts.

The owner of RACBAR Academy also pledged to collaborate with the NBB of C Oyo State to move the sport forward considering the large numbers of boxers and high volume the boxing clubs they have in the state.

“Part of our aims and objectives in establishing RACBAR Academy is to cater for every sport, including boxing. We are ready to give the sport the necessary support to favourably compete with football,” the Kayrom Lee boss noted.

Also speaking at the event, Opaleye thanked the outfit for investing in the health of the boxers, describing health as the most sensitive aspect of boxing.
