Lawal predicts tough battle for Eagles against Guinea

Garba-lawalFORMER Super Eagles midfielder, Garba Lawal, has said he expects a tough battle for Super Eagles team B when they trade tackles with Guinea today in their final Group C match at the ongoing African Nations Championship (CHAN) in Rwanda.

Speaking to The Guardian yesterday, Lawal said since the Eagles had four points already, what they needed to do is ensure they qualify by at least playing a draw.

“The calculation would be that they play a draw with Guinea because the match is going to be physical and tough. Though qualifying from the group stage will be the ultimate, but a victory over them will be perfect.

“I watched the Guineans against Tunisia and I think they will be a tough nut to crack. They are good opposition, and for their coach to be boasting that we cannot beat them tells you that our boys need to work hard and be disciplined.”

Lawal said he expected Coach Sunday Oliseh to have corrected the lapses noticed in his team after two games, adding, “as team players in Holland, we were always told to talk during a match, which Oliseh knows himself. And when you do not talk, the coach might not use you again. Most coaches in Holland believe that players on the field have a role to play when a match is going on”.
