Madagascar aim to continue giant-killing ride against Tunisia

Tournament surprise package Madagascar will be aiming to continue their historic run at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations with victory over Tunisia in a quarterfinal clash at Al Salam Stadium in Cairo this evening, reports africanfootball.com.

The Kick-off is at 8.00 p.m.

The island nation, who are aiming to become the first Afcon debutantes since South Africa in 1996 to reach the semifinals, reached the last eight with a penalty shootout win over Democratic Republic of Congo.

Victory over the Leopards was proceeded by wins over Burundi and Nigeria, while they were held to a 2-2 draw against Guinea in their first ever Afcon game.

Standing in Barea’s way of a place in the final four is a Tunisian side, who have yet to dazzle in Egypt.

Three successive group stage draws against Angola, Mali and Mauritania were duly followed by a penalty shootout win over Ghana; in a match the Black Stars should have won in all fairness.

This, though, makes the Eagles of Carthage even more dangerous as they aim to add to the Afcon title they won on home soil 15 years ago.

The winner will face either Senegal or Benin for a place in the tournament final, which will take place in Cairo on July 19.
