Governor-of-Nasarawa-State-Umaru-Tanko-Al-Makura-dp1NASARAWA State Governor, Tanko Al-Makura, has accepted the plea by the Nigeria Police to host 2017 International Police Sports Festival.

Speaking while receiving a delegation of the Nigeria Police, led by the Assistant Inspector General Jibril Adeniji, Al-Makura said his administration has from inception developed sports facilities across the state to motivate youths in realizing their potential.

The governor appealed to the committee to involve the state in the organisation of the tournament while promising to make facilities available for the event.

“We have facilities across the state that can be used for the event. Our stadium in Lafia has all the facilities needed to host the event and our NYSC camp in Keffi can also be used as camp for athletes,” he said.

Earlier, AIG Adeniji explained that the event would attract police formations from across the world and assist the force in showcasing and discovering talents that could be harnessed for the overall development of sports in the country.

He added that it would also give opportunity for synergy between security agencies across the world to crossbreed ideas.

“We are in the Governor’s Office to inform him of our intention to host the event in Nigeria and will need the support of the state because it is capital intensive and the force alone cannot shoulder the financial responsibility,” he explained.
