New GM, Ahmed Musa, vows to reposition Kano Pillars

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has promised to help reposition Kano Pillars Football Club following his recent appointment as general manager.

In a statement released Tuesday by the club’s Media and Communications Directorate, Musa said he is ready to work with the board, management, and other stakeholders to restore the club’s lost glory. He made the comments during a familiarisation meeting held Monday with the club’s chairman, Alhaji Ali Umar, and other officials.

“Kano Pillars is our club and one of the most successful in Nigeria, but in recent years, the story has changed,” Musa said. “I want to assure everyone here that with your support and the backing of the board members, I will do everything possible to reposition the club.”

Musa cited his experience playing in Nigeria and Europe as an asset he hopes to leverage to advance the club. “Having played here and with the experience I gained in Europe, I believe I can contribute meaningfully to help the club achieve its full potential,” he said.

He emphasised that unity, professionalism, and commitment from all parties—management, players, and supporters—would be crucial to achieving sustainable results.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf approved Musa’s appointment as part of ongoing efforts to overhaul the state-owned club. Kano Pillars, a four-time Nigeria Professional Football League champion, has struggled in recent seasons and is aiming for renewed competitiveness under Musa’s leadership.
