The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) says it has started putting everything in order to ensure that the Super Eagles beat Zambia in their opening game of the 2018 World Cup qualifying series slated to hold in Ndola on October 9.

NFF’s Assistant Director, Media, Ademola Olajire, said in Lagos yesterday that the body has been working with the Super Eagles’ Manager, Gernot Rohr, to prepare the team for the game, adding that the players were being sensitized to maintain their form ahead of the game.

“The NFF is planning big to ensure the Eagles beat Zambia at their home. Based on the importance of the game, the federation has lined out programmes for the success of the team against Zambia and other matches in the 2018 World Cup campaign.

“Coach Rohr will release the list of players for the game by this weekend or early next week. And I want to say that we are not taking any chances against Zambia and other teams in our group,’’ he said.

Meanwhile, Portugal-based attacking midfielder, Oghenekaro Etebo, is in talks with the Super Eagles’ backroom staff over his availability for the qualifier against Zambia, reports allnigeriasoccer.com.

The Nigeria U-23 star is doubtful for the fixture in Ndola despite resuming full training at the start of this week because of residence permit issues.

“Etebo spoke with the Super Eagles’ Team Secretary, Dayo Enebi Achor, on Tuesday and informed him of the challenges he is facing to come for the match.

“We are expecting the coach Rohr to contact him soon, so the situation can be resolved, ” a source said.

It would be recalled that Porto defender Chidozie Awaziem could not make his international debut against Mali back in May because he was stuck in Portugal processing his residence permit.
