‘Falconets well-prepared for clash with Senegal’
Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr Muhammad Sanusi, has vowed that the present board will not allow “distractors” to rubbish its work.

Sanusi, who dismissed reports from some online media outlets that he is under pressure to resign from his job, said, “I don’t really know where such rumour of resignation is coming from, but I can tell you that those behind it are mere distractors, which this present board of the NFF won’t allow to rubbish our good job.

“We just came back from the AFCON in Morocco, where the Super Eagles won the bronze medal. We have a lot ahead of us, and instead of people rallying around the NFF to see how we succeed, some people are busy spreading rumours that I am under pressure to resign. These are people who do not want us to succeed as a federation. We won’t listen to them.”

Sanusi also dismissed reports that he was contemplating quitting the NFF job for a return to the university system as a full-time lecturer.

Meanwhile, the NFF secretary general has declared that the national U-20 women’s team, Falconets, are well-prepared for this weekend’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup third round, first leg qualifier against Senegal in Abeokuta.

He revealed that the NFF requested a change of venue as a result of the “poor state” of the playing pitch at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan that had earlier been approved for the match.

The stadium had earlier hosted the Falconets’ second round, second leg clash with Rwanda’s U-20 girls in September last year.
