NNPC will win again, says Onyiriuka

nnpc-2CHIEF coach of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Football Club (NNPC FC), Frank Onyiriuka, has predicted a successful title defense for his team in this year’s Nigeria Oil and Gas Industries Games (NOGIG) in Lagos.

Onyiriuka, an ex-player of defunct ITT FC and Stationary Stores FC of Lagos before playing for NNPC Warri till early 90’s, has expressed total optimism after the ‘Oil Boys’ drilled Petroleum Training Institute FC 2-O in Monday’s preliminary football game decided at the Legacy Pitch of the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos.

Moments after goals from Abdulahi Aliyu and Captain Charles Uyi guaranteed the 2-0 win over PTI, Onyiriuka was emphatic that they would re-enact the 2014 success story this time out.

Onyiriuka, who said his optimism stem from the fact that the team that won the NOGIG football gold two years ago has not only been retained but now more matured and creative for this year’s campaign.

“I can say I have 100 per cent of the squad that won us the title by defeating Chevron 2-0 in the 2014 final. There is a fresh determination by everyone at NNPC to grab the crown again and nothing short of the gold medal and title is good enough,” the coach declared while he applauded the NNPC’s management for continuously boosting players and officials before, during and after such championships.
