Rio-2016-Olympics

To ensure that many Nigerians have access to the events of the 2016 Olympic Games scheduled for August in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has entered into a broadcast and entertainment partnership with four top television outfits.

The four broadcast outfits, including Silverbird, Daar Communications, owners of AIT, NTA and Smooth Promotions, also known as HipTV, at the boardroom of the NOC in Lagos signed a partnership that would see them televising events of the Olympics to Nigerian audience through their free to air outfits.

The agreement, according to the NOC, will also help the partners generate enough revenue for their activities during and after the Olympics.

Speaking at the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the broadcast outfits and his organisation, NOC President, Habu Gumel, said the “agreement is a major contribution to the long term financial stability of the Olympic Movement in Nigeria.

“The selected stations consistently do an excellent job of broadcasting live sporting and entertainment events and the Olympic Games, so this collaboration is very good news for sports fans in Nigeria.
