Ikorodu City’s Head Coach, Ali Kandil, has said that the ‘Oga Boys’ will go beyond their impressive performance last season to win a continental ticket at the end of the 2025/26 Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Ikorodu City were held to a goalless draw by El Kanemi Warriors in a Week Two match at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, at the weekend. But the coach was not disturbed by his wards’ inability to win the game.
He said his team is gradually getting to the level the owners of the club want, adding that with time, fans will see the real Ikorodu City.
“We made enough chances to win, but the game showed that we need to be more precise. The boys played hard, and we will keep improving.”
Kandil said his team’s current efforts are geared towards achieving stability, adding: “We don’t want to get carried away by the results we got last season. We want to do well in the league, cement our spot. And from there, we can aim higher, hopefully, in the coming games.”
He said the club would qualify for the continent if everything fell into place.
