Olabuntu wins 2nd EAFC challenge in Lagos

Haneef Olabuntu has emerged winner of the second EAFC Challenge tournament, where he showcased sharp instincts, strategy, and resilience that earned him the top prize and a standing ovation from the crowd.

The challenge tournament, hosted by Whatadeal Events, drew over 80 of Nigeria’s most skilled gamers to battle on the sticks for glory, bragging rights, and substantial cash prizes.

Held in Lagos, the tournament underscored the growing influence of e-sports in Nigerian youth culture, and after a full day of tightly contested matches, Olabuntu emerged as champion.

The Managing Director of Whatadeal, Mr. Fela Bank-Olemoh, said: “The tournament is not just gaming—it’s community, competition, and culture. We are proud of the turnout and the passion we have witnessed today. The success of this second edition has reinforced our commitment to grow this into a national movement. We will be taking the EAFC Challenge on the road to reach more players across Nigeria.”

Whatadeal Events, a lifestyle platform known for helping users discover events, access fun spots, and buy movie tickets, has in recent months expanded its focus on youth engagement and pop culture. The EAFC Challenge forms a cornerstone of the strategy, tapping into the booming world of competitive gaming.

Beyond the console battles, the firm said the tournament created a vibrant social scene, bringing together spectators and entertainment lovers, as attendees enjoyed live commentary, music, and refreshments, turning the gaming floor into a dynamic cultural hub.

With plans now underway to stage the tournament in cities like Abuja, Port Harcourt, and Enugu, Whatadeal Events said it has positioned itself not just as a platform for fun, but as a cultural force shaping the future of entertainment in Nigeria.
