Channels TV CEO, John Momoh, has offered cash prizes for the top three men and women athletes of North Ibie origin at the fourth edition of the Okpekpe 10km road race, which holds on May 7 in Okpekpe near Auchi in Edo State.

Momoh, an indigene of North Ibie and owner of the best television station in Nigeria, will offer N.6 million as prize monies to the top three men and women at the race with the first going home with N150, 000, while the second and third-placed finishers will go home with N100, 000 and N50, 000 respectively for both men and women.

North Ibie comprises Okpekpe Clan and Imiegba, Imiakebu and Itsukwi of Etasko East Local Government Area, Edo State.

These novel prizes, according to organisers of the only IAAF-labelled road race in West Africa and one of only two in Africa in 2016 are to pave a way for these communities that are of the same historical background besides their common Ibie language, to encourage and motivate them.
