Osayi-Samuel to face disciplinary hearing in Turkey
Fenerbahce’s Nigerian defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel, will appear before a disciplinary hearing of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) following a bust-up with Trabzonspor fans after a league game on March 17.
The Turkish Football body announced this on Monday, 1 April, 2024.
Osayi-Samuel is one of three Fenerbahce players who will appear at a disciplinary hearing.
Trouble started when Trabzonspor fans stormed the pitch after the final whistle which the away side Fenerbahce won 3-2.
The attacks took place after the Fenerbahce players and coaching staff celebrated their victory in the middle of the pitch.
Osayi-Samuel punched one of the supporters who ran onto the pitch with his face masked and had to be dragged away by security personnels.
The AFCON 2023 silver medal winner got a mural of him punching the fan.
The incident saw 13 Trabzonspor fans arrested with five placed in pre-trial detention.
It was the latest violent incident to affect Turkish football this season.
The championship was suspended for one week earlier this term when the president of Ankaragucu attacked a referee at the end of a first division match.
A number of Fenerbahce trips to Trabzonspor in recent times have also been disrupted by violence.
In 2016 a game between the two teams was abandoned in the closing minutes after an assistant referee was attacked by a home supporter.
