Edison Teberen is a Nigerian footballer, entrepreneur, and founder of the Pele Football Academy. Born and raised in Delta State, Nigeria, his journey has been one of resilience, determination, and reinvention—from aspiring footballer to business leader.

Education and Early Life

Edison Teberen attended Hope Children School for his primary education before proceeding to Hopebay College for secondary school, both in Lagos State. He later graduated from Delta State University and completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) programme in Jigawa State, where he served at the Kaugama Local Government Council. Following his service, he travelled to the United Kingdom to pursue his football dreams.

Football Career

Upon arriving in the UK, Edison began playing football in local parks, where his talent quickly caught the attention of scouts. In an interview, he shared how he soon joined Meridian FC, marking the official start of his football career.

His exceptional skills and dedication earned him a reputation as a promising striker. His trajectory changed when his close friend, Oluwatobi Jinadu, a skilled defender with top-league experience, invited him to Southall FC. Recognising his potential, the club welcomed him after a series of successful trials.

Edison Teberen’s promising football career was abruptly cut short by a knee injury.

Edison made an immediate impact at Southall FC, scoring two goals in his debut match. Despite missing several early-season games, he emerged as the second-highest goal scorer in the league, solidifying his reputation as a prolific striker.

However, his promising football career was abruptly cut short by a knee injury at the start of the season. This setback marked a significant turning point in his life.

A New Path: From Football to Entrepreneurship

With the guidance and support of his mentor, Coach Ade, Edison found a new direction. He transitioned into the security industry, joining Securitas Security Services as a mobile supervisor. This role provided him with stability and the opportunity to map out his future.

In 2023, Edison’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish Atlantix Global Resources Ltd, marking his entry into the corporate world. His passion for football, however, remained strong.

The Birth of Pele Football Academy

Determined to give back to the sport that shaped him, Edison founded Pele Football Academy in 2025. The academy is dedicated to nurturing young football talent and instilling the values of discipline, hard work, and perseverance that defined his own journey.

A Legacy of Resilience and Inspiration

Today, Edison Teberen stands as a testament to perseverance, adaptability, and the power of chasing one’s dreams. From his early days in Delta State to his football career in the UK and his transition into business, his story continues to inspire aspiring footballers and entrepreneurs alike.

Through Pele Football Academy, he is shaping the next generation of footballers, proving that setbacks can be stepping stones to even greater achievements.
