The Presidency has described the bid to mobilise youths against the ills of corruption through football and entertainment as a laudable project every Nigerian should support.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Mr. Mustapha Boss said yesterday that any move that would help uproot corruption in the country would always be supported by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The SGF, who was represented by the Senior Special Assistant, Political Matters to the President, Gideon Sammani made the position known when he received in his office, organisers of the Match Against Corruption.

According to him, the country would have been a better place if past administrations did not allow the common wealth of the nation to be looted.

He expressed optimism that the government would support the programme to ensure its success, adding that with what the Buhari administration had done to restore sanity to the governance in the country, investors were now happy to invest in the development of Nigeria.

Earlier, the Chief Coordinator and Chief Executive of Canada-based OZ Consulting Firm, Abi Goodman said the resolve to help eliminate corruption in the country informed the decision to use football and entertainment to drum support for the present administration’s crusade.

Abi said the Match Against Corruption would see international legends taking on the EFCC FC in a football match, adding that music stars would also be on parade to drum support for the enlightenment programme.

Abi commended President Buhari’s administration for its bold step in the fight against corruption, adding that the match against corruption would help create the much needed awareness for the youths.

Also speaking, the president of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Comrade Bello Shagari said the council keyed into the project because of its inherent benefit to the country.

Shagari commended President Buhari for his drive to restore sanity into governance in the country.
