Buoyed by a passion for grooming future champions and world-beaters from the grassroots, the sports arm of RACHISOLS Foundation, at the weekend, launched a technical training programme for 13 coaches at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos.
Tagged “Project Domino,” the training for the home-based grassroots tacticians was aimed at training and equipping coaches with professional skills to nurture future talents, develop well-rounded athletes through expert-led mental, physical/emotional education and provide quality training gear and customised coaching kits to the participating coaches.
The foundation’s Sport Appendage Lead, Mr. Olajide Solomi, explained that “Project Domino is an initiative that is targeted at grassroots coaches that should create a ripple effect of foundational, sustainable and impactful changes in the football community by bridging the gap between grassroots training and professional excellence while fostering a mindset of holistic development for aspiring football players that extends far beyond sport.”
Excited by the new things they learnt from the programme, two of the coaches, who benefited from the indoor lectures and outdoor training session at the Legacy Pitch of the National Institute for Sports, thanked RACHISOLS Foundation for organising the coaching programme.
Coach Shafau Hakeem Olusegun, a beneficiary of the training, said: “It is thumbs up for RACHISOLS Foundation for this opportunity. I learnt a lot from this class session and the practicals on the field.”
The coaching programme, which some stakeholders described as timely and impactful for grassroots development, coincided with the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival holding in Ogun State.
