Enugu Rangers Head Coach, Benedict Ugwu has assured the club’s supporters that the team would surmount the opposition mounted by their foes in the group phase of the competition.

Enugu Rangers were yesterday pitted against two Egyptian sides, Al Masry and Pyramids, as well as Mauritania’s F.C Nouadibhou in the draws held in Cairo, Egypt.

Speaking on the draws yesterday, Ugwu was positive of leading Rangers to their second continental triumph this season, adding, “It is a very fine draw for us and we fear no foe. It surely will be tough but we are physically, psychologically and spiritually prepared for the games of the group stage.

“Our target remains winning the trophy for a second time at the end of this season.”

From the fixtures, Rangers will kick off the group stage of the competition with a home tie against Pyramids F.C of Egypt on December 1, 2019, and take a road trip to Cairo for a date with Al-Masry on December 8 on match day 2.

The seven-time Nigerian league champions finished third in the group stage last season where they had two Tunisian sides and a Burkina-Faso side to contend with.

To get to this stage of the competition, Rangers beat Gabonese side, A.S Pelican 4-3 aggregate on aggregate, dismissed Togolese league champions, A.S.C Kara on away goals rule after both legs of the playoff round stood at 2-2.

Nigeria’s second team in the competition, Enyimba of Aba will also face North African sides in Group D.

The teams are Algeria’s Paradou AC and Moroccan side Hassania US Agadir, as well as San Pedro of Cote d’Ivoire.
