Sports Ministry sets up probe panel on Paris Olympics misadventures
Summons NOC, Heads Of Federations, Others
The Sports Ministry, Friday, set up a seven-man probe panel to look into what it tagged ‘the various negative exposures to the country’ at the 2024 Paris Olympics/Paralympics.
In a statement signed by Director of Information/ Public Relations Officer in the Ministry of Sports Development, Mrs Kehinde Ajayi, and made available to The Guardian, the Ministry named Dr. Mumuni Alao (South West) as Chairman of the panel.
Other members are Aliyu Mohammed (NW), Hajia Rakiya Muhammed (NC), Godwin Enakhena (SS), Dr Abubakar Ango (NE), Christy Opara (SE) and Barr Victor Okangbe (SS) who will serve as Secretary to the panel.
The committee will be inaugurated at 11 am on Wednesday, 25th September 2024 at the Media Centre, MKO Abiola Stadium Package A, Abuja. According to the statement, the committee’s terms of reference will be provided at the inauguration.
In another development, the Federal Ministry of Sports Development has convened the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Post Games Audit and Review meeting for tuesday, 24th Sept, 2024.
Those invited to the meeting are: President and Secretary General of Nigeria Olympic Committee(NOC) and Paralympic Committee of Nigeria (PCN), Presidents, Secretarys’ General, Technical Directors and Coaches of all twelve Sports to the Olympics and all four sports to the Paralympics, Members of the Ministerial Podium Performance Committee, and Heads of Technical Departments of the Ministry. The meetings will hold at the Media Centre, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, at 11am.
