According to Mustapha, the event, which flags off from the Police Headquarters, would have among top dignitaries, the Inspector General of Police, Minister of Youth and Sports Development, top shots of the Nigeria Football Federation and football legends, as well as government officials.

He listed other notable personalities expected at the event to include actress Tonto Dikeh, Cubana Chief Priest, Abbeh Abuede, Tijani Babangida, Daniel Amokachi, Emmanuel Emenike, Victor Ikpeba and Dare Art Alade, among others.

“It is a walk not only for Kanu. It is a walk for us… the more you walk the better for your heart.

“The aim of the walk with Kanu is to improve awareness and intervention on the need to protect and care for our hearts.

“Abuja Walk With Kanu,” is an event to commemorate the globally celebrated World Heart Day and will commence from the Office of the Inspector General of Police, through routes cutting across the Federal Secretariat, High Court/Abia House, Intel Junction, AP Plaza, CAC, INEC Office and Transcorp Hilton as an endpoint,” Mustapha said.

He revealed that there will be free medical check up, adding that participants would undergo medical check up before embarking on the walk to ensure it is casualty free.

He added that the event is a part of the activities of the Kanu Heart Foundation, a non-governmental organisation set up by the former Super Eagles captain, who was once diagnosed of heart problems when he was playing for Italy’s Inter Milan.

It is a programme that helps indigent Nigerian children with cardiac related diseases to obtain life-saving surgeries within and outside the country.
