It was a day of excitement for youth footballers in Isheri Ijegun area of Lagos recently, when an America-based Nigerian, Pastor Judge Ananonu, presented a box-load of jerseys for them to aid their soccer career.

Ananonu, who runs a non-governmental organization known as Widows Cry International Foundation, has been shuttling between his base in the United States and Nigeria for years.

This time, he decided to look the direction of young players who usually converge in a football field around Isheri Ijegun for their fitness exercise and friendly matches.

At first, the players thought that the visiting Pastor came to preach the gospel, but were shocked when he brought out a box containing 32 pieces of green white green jerseys.

Thrilled by the gesture, the youths formed circle round Ananonu singing and dancing. To them, the kits will go a long way in shaping their football career.

Before he left the venue, Ananonu took photograph with the players and promised to render his helping hand when the need arises.

“I am always delighted seeing other people happy,” he said.

Apart from rendering help to the young footballers, Pastor Ananonu said he had done a lot in ameliorating the lives of the people, both the old and young, particularly the widows all over the country.
