Dan Ngerem’s pedigree when he was the Athletics Federation OF Nigeria (AFN) boss was the main factor in the decision to appoint him as the chairman of the race’s local organizing committee, The Guardian has learnt.

Ngerem was on Wednesday appointed the Chairman of the Organising Committee of the Okpekpe 10 km Road race, which holds on May I6 in Okpekpe, Edo State.

According to the owners and sponsors of the race, Ngerem’s appointment is expected to boost the rising profile of the race, as he is expected to apply the rules to the letter without fear or favour.

In the same vein, Ecobank Rapid Transfer Service was named the official money transfer service for the race.

Announcing the bank’s partnership in Lagos, a statement quoted Ecobank’s Deputy Managing Director, Tony Okpanachi, to have said the Ecobank Rapid Transfer is best suited for the competition that has grown to have global recognition.
