Zenith Women Basketball League

This year’s Zenith Bank Women League enters the home stretch in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, with the remaining 12 teams jostling for positions and the share of the N35 million at stake for winners.

Only eight of the 12 will eventually make the Grand Finale slated for the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium later in the month.

Already the defending champion, First Bank and first runner up, Dolphins, who are topping their groups, can boast unbeaten runs this season.

The competition in Ibadan from today promises to be exciting with most teams hoping to maintain their positions on the log.

The groups will be collapsed into two for the quarter final, semifinal and final pairings in Lagos depending on the outcome of actions in Ibadan.

The teams in Ibadan this weekend are First Bank, Dolphins, IGP, Customs, AHIP Queens, Delta Force, Sunshine Angels, FCT Queens, Benue Princess, GT2000, 1st Deep Water and Plateau Rocks.

Group Managing Director of Zenith Bank, Peter Amangbo, said the Ibadan and Lagos legs of the event would be a big carnival.
The winner is expected to go home with a continental ticket and over N1.2m while the first runner and second runner up will earn over a million each and continental tickets.
