Benue State University ASUU Suspends Strike
THE Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) of Benue State University chapter (BSU), Makurdi, has called off its industrial action.
The union chairman, Dr. David Ikoni, announced the suspension after a peace meeting between ASUU leadership, representatives of the school authorities and the state government.
Ikoni said lecturers are satisfied with the commitment of Governor Samuel Ortom to the agreement, adding that the union would not hesitate to embark on strike again if the state government fails to keep its promise.
In a reaction, the Vice Chancellor of the school, Prof. Charity Angya, said, “the state government would do its best to ensure that the school is not shut down again.”
