Collector or receiver of the gift? – Part 2

Related

Act 19:13

“Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth.”

Having seen the Miracles Paul did in His name, they took it upon themselves to use the name. They wanted to display the name so people can be attracted to them. Those who receive Jesus do mighty works IN His Name but those who collect Jesus attempt to do miracles WITH His name! This is the deceit that people do not see today. There are a lot of charlatans out there today who claim to do miracles with His name but not IN His name. But they make it look like they are doing it in His name so it can look believable! They’ve collected His name but received another spirit so they use His name to deceive people while another spirit works behind the scene….and ignorant people fall for such false miracles – which at best is magic. See how Jesus will ultimately answer such people: “In your name we cast out demon, raised the dead….I know you not, depart from me ye workers of iniquity.” And, of course, the territory they (Sons of Sceva) went into, they recognise the name of Jesus and those who truly bear his name. “And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus, I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye”

If you are a collector of Jesus, you may live in the church and perform all religious activities, you’re irrelevant in the kingdom of darkness and to evil spirits. But if you have received Jesus you’re known and respected even by the powers of darkness. “……Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?” So the fate of collectors of the gift look like this – “And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.” I pray may you not be wounded in life in Jesus’ name. Receive the gift don’t just collect him and his name.

Simon the sorcerer
Acts 8:14-23

Now when the apostles, which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John: Who, when they came down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost: (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptised in the name of the Lord Jesus.) Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost. And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles ‘hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money, Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost. But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money. Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God. Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee. For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
