The Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC) Nigeria, has concluded its 2019 convention, with the theme: “Understand the Times” taken from Eph. 5:15-17. The soul-enrichment August retreat, which was held for the clergy and their wives took place at St Michael’s Cathedral Aba, from August 12, 2019, to 14. While the general held at Ovum Girls High School Ogbor-Hill Aba, from August 15, 2019, to 18.

The speakers at the event were former Primate, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Revd Peter Jasper Akinola, Primate of Uganda, Most Rev’d Stanley Ntagali, host Bishop, Rt Rev Christian Ugwuzor, Eastern bloc Chairman, Rt Rev Oko-Jaja, and GAFCON Asst. In his opening speech, the outgoing EFAC National Chairman, Rt. Rev’d Henry Okeke spoke on the theme of the convention, “Understand the times,” as he rounded off his tenure at the convention, having served for eight years. He stressed the importance of understanding of the time like the sons of Issachar, so as to walk with the God of times and seasons, noting regrettably that as the end of the time draws near, the society deepens in sin, and most, unfortunately, pulling the church along. He urged everyone to listen to the messages and make good use of the opportunity.

Former Primate of the church, Most Rev Peter Jasper Akinola sternly warned the ministers against insatiable appetite for materialism bedeviling some preachers in contemporary society and reminded brethren that they serve the Almighty God in whom no secrets are hidden, and all desires of the heart known.

Highlights of the Convention included the dedication of a newly acquired evangelism bus and musical equipment by the Primate, Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Rev’d Nicholas Okoh. The standard generating plant donated by a member of the church, a thrilling performance by the brethren from the core North as well as the election and commissioning of a new Executive Committee, made up of Rt. Rev. Dr Samuel Chukwudi Ezeofor as Chairman. Other members include Ven Henry Ajayi as Secretary; Rev Barrister Josiah Onyema as Assistant Secretary; Bro Okey Achusi as Financial Secretary and Sister Boma Dikibo as Treasurer.
