There is a force at work in man and it is the power of the Devil. When man is outside Christ, he will serve the Devil. The pains we get from people in this group, is that the man will continue to serve the Devil while he is still in the church. They will use the church membership and attendance as covers. This in its true sense will never be a cover to him until he tells the Devil: “thus far and I am no more; we cannot continue together, I have decided to drop you because I now have better knowledge. I have come to know who you are.”
Ungodly people do not care about whatever name you call them because they do not believe in Jesus Christ and as such they are under the control of the Devil. You can call them Boko Haram because of their unbelief. You can call them any name, bandits or armed-robbers; it does not matter to them. You can also call them harlots or commercial sex workers or any new name; they will not bother because they are imprisoned by the Devil.
We have different kind of people in the church today. Do we have adulterers and fornicators in the church? Yes, we know and have read it in the scriptures. We also know that they are under the control of the Devil. Do they preach with us? Yes! Do they teach with us? Yes, they do. Are their names in the church records? Yes, yet they are adulterers and fornicators. We have people filled with jealousy also in the church. We, even, have people involved in all kinds of unscrupulous things among Christian gatherings.
Beloved, an adulterer, a witch, a thief and other evildoers have no relationship with God because they are of the Devil. The Lord in His kindness and mercy has listed all these evils, which are of the flesh in the scriptures, so that, we can avoid them. The Lord has also made us to know that the list is open-ended, as there are many other things He did not include in the list (Romans 1:18-32). To be free from the Devil, we should all be mindful of what goes on in our hearts. We should always try to find out if God is pleased with what that is going on in our hearts because it is from there that He know who truly we are.
Who are you? Mind you, God knows everything about you because He is omniscient. If you decide to walk very fast or very slow, God is not bothered because He is interested in your heart. And looking at your heart, what does He see? Does He see the real you or something else?
Apostle Paul was talking about the preaching of the gospel, when he said that the gospel is the power of God unto salvation. It is not the power of men or power that comes from human knowledge just as the saying goes: ‘Knowledge is power.’ The gospel has a spiritual power and if you accept it today, it will completely transform everything about you. It will bring out a new creature in you that will make you a child of God with clear testimony before God, Satan, God’s Angels and men.
My brother and sister, this is the most important start-point for whatever anyone wants to be.
