God: Our sure refuge

Your safety in life is a function of where you are. Your location determines how safe you are. No wonder, the Psalmist remarked in Psalm 91: 1 that ‘He who sits in the secret place of the most High, shall abide under the tabernacle of the Lord.

Your safety in life is a function of where you are. Your location determines how safe you are. No wonder, the Psalmist remarked in Psalm 91: 1 that ‘He who sits in the secret place of the most High, shall abide under the tabernacle of the Lord.’ The protection of the Lord is certain for those who abide in His presence. It is true that the world is going through a challenging time, what is sure is that God cares for those who are His and will not allow anything from the pit of hell to harm them. Irrespective of the challenges the world is facing now, it is expected of every believer to abide under the watch of the Lord. Moving away from God’s presence is totally dangerous and can land even the most upright believer in the trouble waters of life. When there are issues in life, people tend to run out of God’s presence to seek refuge outside God, thinking that would be faster than God’s intervention. The bitter truth is, the moment you are out of God’s presence, you have submitted your soul to the devil and you will be left alone to face the consequences. Having God around one is the only antidote to being exposed to dangers and difficulties of the world. And God cannot condone the idea of someone who says He believes in Him and yet still believes in the power of the world!

In Psalm 23: 4, the Bible explicitly states that ‘Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil; for thou art with me.’ With God on your side, neither disease nor death can intimidate you. The story of the Israelites in Egypt will give us a very deep understanding that there is no harm that can befall anyone who stays with God and is also in God. The land of Goshen was right inside Egypt, which was attacked by varying degrees of pestilence, drought and death but none had any influence over Goshen, because it was under God’s protection. Everyone in Goshen only heard of what was happening in Egypt, but did not experience any iota of it. That is exactly how God works, those who are His will abide under His tabernacle and no evil can befall them.

No one has ever been disappointed by God. I urge you all to offer yourselves to God and allow Him to take full charge of all the affairs of your life. Don’t give room to the devil. Always run away from sin, which is irritating to God and your safety is assured. The name of the Lord is a strong tower, the righteous runs into it and is safe, Proverbs 18: 10.

Are you willing to hide yourself under God’s tabernacle? Then, let go of all your evil tendencies, stop patronising and embracing the powers that be in the world. Totally surrender to God by accepting the Lord Jesus as your personal Lord and Saviour. You will surely be protected and no calamity will befall you. The world may be recording deaths daily; with God on your side, you and your household will surely not partake in it. Stay safe today and always under God’s watch and it shall be well with you.
