Bishop of the Diocese of Lagos West Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Reverend James Olusola Odedeji, has enjoined the youth to be rooted in God’s word. He also advised them to be mindful of the type of association they keep, saying not all associations are good for their spiritual well being.

Odedeji, who gave the admonition at the 22nd yearly holiday camp of the Anglican Communion Brigades with theme:”Fight The Good Fight Of Faith,” reminded the youth that evil communication corrupts good manners.

Explaining the theme, Odedeji urged them to know that they are on the battlefield and should be ready at any time.

“We are in a battle; however, it is not a physical one, but a spiritual battle and God has graciously provided us spiritual weapons to fight and overcome,” he said.

Expatiating on the object of the Boys Brigade, Odedeji said the outfit was created for the advancement of Christ’s Kingdom among boys and also to promotion good habits such as obedience, discipline, self-respect and among others.
The Chaplain of the Brigade, Reverend Canon Olabode Daramola, added that the theme centred on faith, which is the foundation of Christianity and the cornerstone of spirituality.

He said: “Without faith, our spiritual journey will lack clarity and purpose. This camp offers opportunities that reunite in faith, refresh, remind us of our responsibilities and re-jig us to fight the good fight of faith.”

The Commandant, OluyemisiTaiwo, in her goodwill message encouraged everyone not to be hopeful on the nation and also to trust the Lord at every moment.

The Deputy Commandant, Mr. Olaniyi Daniel, noted that the youth are the future of the nation and should learn at the feet of Christ, as well imbibe in the word of God, adding that doing this will make them stronger to face future challenges for the good of the nation.
