The General Overseer of First Love Assembly, Pastor Simeon Afolabi, has stressed the need for churches to go back to the Bible and make it the bedrock of their faith.
The cleric noted that any extra doctrine added to the biblical doctrine would amount to departure from the true faith delivered to the saints.
Pastor Afolabi who disclosed this at a media chat in Lagos to mark his 60th birthday and book launch, advised church leaders to stick to the faith in their pursuit for members and expansion of their churches.
Speaking on the importance of evangelism and welfare, the General Overseer said the two are interwoven, adding that many churches now spend more money on land acquisition and others at the expense of caring for the poor and needy, saying the apostles of old cared for one another.
He said: “In the early Church, welfare was made very significant, it was a command to remember the needy and the poor among us.”
He called on Nigerian youths to be patient in their quest for money and fame, saying parents should, in this time and always, pray and teach their children the ways of the Lord.
