Seventh-day Adventist Church has elected Pastor Stanley Chikezie as the President of Lagos-East Atlantic Conference. The election of Chikezie and his executive members took place last year, but the inauguration and dedication service of his regime held on January 24, 2026, at The Conference Headquarters of Seventh-day Adventist Church, Lekki-Epe Expressway, Sango-Tedo, Lagos.
In his new role, the cleric will lead the church for five years.
In his acceptance speech, Chikezie appealed to members of the church to support his regime, saying the task before him and his group are huge, adding that they will not disappoint God and the body of Christ.
Speaking on his vision, tagged: “Vision 20 by 2030,” the cleric said his team would plant 30 churches across the country beginning 2026 to 2030.
Quoting from Matt 24:14 the President said: “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached to Epe, Ibeju-Lekki and its environs and urged members to join hands to move the work of God.Again, I promise before God and before these saints of God that my team and I, my co-officers and all the directors will not disappoint God. We shall not disappoint you, as well,”he said.
Earlier, President Western Nigeria Union Conference, Pastor Ezekiel Adeleye, who represented the West Central African Division President, Pastor Bassey Udoh, applauded the leadership of the conference and the Local Church District, Pastor Jacob Umoru; Pastor Stanley Chikezie and executive officers as well as members for allowing the Spirit of God to lead them in the reorganisation of the conference.
Pastor Adeleye said: “So, as we grow we will continue to reorganise the church. Reorganisation has its own challenges, which is part of life. And for the fact that we are a church does not mean we will not face challenges, but in every challenge the Lord is always there to help us out. So, Lagos-East Atlantic Conference is a baby born on December 7, 2025. Pastor Stanley Chikezie came to this side of the country to do a pioneering work, not thinking of sitting down in an office where there is air conditioner, approving and signing cheque.”
In his sermon with theme: “Give Me This Mountain,” Adeleye, commended the good role Caleb and Joshua played when they were asked to go and spy the Promised Land, which God had promised to give to the children of Israel for their inheritance. He said only Caleb and Joshua came back with good reports that the ‘land flows with milk and honey,’ while the rest came with discouraging reports.
Urging members of the church to emulate the characters of Caleb and Joshua, he said: “Lagos-East Atlantic Conference needs a Caleb, who is full of faith and trust in God.
If you read further, you will see the effect of the negative reports that these 10 spies gave. The Bible says in every home, family and tribe there were weeping and wailing. They wanted to go back to Egypt and were already preparing a leader that would take them back to Egypt.
“God commissioned Moses to go and deliver his people, but little challenge on the way, the people wanted to go back to Egypt. I have heard people who are already complaining about this reorganisation and are saying that the place is too far; why are they taking the headquarters to so and so place? Sometimes when things don’t go the way we want, we intend to fight the system. May the Lord have mercy on us,” he noted.
Some members were honoured with different awards for their contributions to the growth of the church. One of them was Pastor Jacob Umoru.
The church also used the avenue to announced its Lagos For Christ Crusade, tagged: “Arise In Hope” holding at the University of Lagos, indoor Sporting Complex, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos from April 26 to May 9, 2026. Ministers officiating include: Pastor Olutunde Ojewole, Pastor Paul Douglas, and Dr Chidi Ngwaba.
