Embrace Christ’s love, overcome challenges, Owoyele tells CMSN members

The Archdeacon of Agege and Vicar of Christ Church, Diocese of Lagos West, Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Venerable Tunde Owoyele has enjoined members of the Christ Morning Star Nigeria (CMSN) to embrace Christ’s love as the only means to overcome the world system and its challenges/pressures.

Owoyele, who gave the charge recently while preaching on the theme: “This is the Lord’s doing” to mark the 44th anniversary of the society, at the Christ Church, Agege, Lagos.

Quoting copiously from the Bible, Owoyele reminded members of the society that Christ is the Chief Cornerstone of their lives, and failure to acknowledge Him, will result to crisis.

He said: “Some of you are at the twilight of your life, some are just starting. Nobody knows what the next day holds. We are all sojourners here on earth. It will be foolhardy for anybody to lose sight of his creator. No matter what we think we might have achieved, a life that does not acknowledge Christ will end in crisis.”

Urging the society to have a name that is linked to Christ, Owoyele said, “That alone should be an inspiration for you to hold on and forge ahead. The name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous run into it and they are saved. We have no other name but the name Christ and we can’t do anything without him.”

He pleaded with the congregation to serve God without reservation, adding that they should serve the Lord with all their mind, soul and body.

“Serve the Lord with all your mind, with all your soul and with all your body. Do not hold back. Give God your all and you will see him work great things through you.”
Owoyele said that man was created to serve God and anyone who refuses to surrender to the Lord cannot live a fufilled life.

He noted that the CMSN’s anniversary celebration at the Christ Church was the Lord’s doing and prayed God to grant members of the society their heart desires. While advising them to demonstrate love one to another, the Vicar said, “Do not pay evil for evil. Be like Christ who loved His enemies and prayed for them. Make love your watchword.”

The event, which was graced by members and non-members from across Nigeria, witnessed the presentation of 2024 Presidential Award given to the Lagos Chapter President, Star SegunSobowale.
