Presiding Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM), Dr. Mike Okonkwo, has urged Christians to be optimistic and cast all their trust in God. Speaking at Superfest 2016 of Abundant Life Gospel Church in Agege, Lagos, Okonkwo noted that regardless of the present socio-economic challenges, there is light at the end of the tunnel for any Christian that can trust in God only.

He said: “no matter what the devil is doing, don’t lose hope. The landlord may be threatening you; you may have lost your job. Know that you are Mount Zion that cannot be moved. They tried to kill Moses, but they couldn’t succeed. The enemy also thought the Red Sea would consume him, but to no avail. The enemy thought Abraham would not have a child, but God made him become a father of many nations. The enemy also thought they were selling Joseph into slavery, but they never knew they were sending him forth to his place of destiny.”

Taking his text from John 17: 15, he noted that Jesus said, ‘my prayer is not that you take them out of the world, but you protect them from the evil one.’Rev. Dr. Jane Onaolapo, who spoke on the theme, ‘God’s Battle Axe,’ urged believers to release themselves as God’s battle-axe, stating, “Battle Axe is symbolic of any weapon that a warrior uses to pull down his enemy in battle. Just as a warrior cannot go to war without weapons, God Himself is limited in His activities without believers. Like Moses, you may feel unqualified, unworthy and rejected.”
