The Bishop of Lagos Mainland Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion), Rt. Reverend Akinpelu Johnson has appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prioritise the power sector by making it functional.

Explaining the importance of adequate electric power supply to the nation, the Bishop said steady power supply would not only boost businesses, but also create new jobs and open up the economy to both local and foreign investors.

He made this call at the second Session of the sixth Synod of the Diocese with the theme: “Confirmation, Our Youth And The Eucharist — Sustenance For The Journey Ahead,” held at the All Saint’s Church, Yaba, Lagos.

He said: “In our homes, churches and organisations, we will spend little on diesel, while the cost of commodities will go down.”

The Bishop also urged President Tinubu to tackle insecurity, saying it will encourage goods and services to be moved to different parts of the country.

Praying for President Tinubu-led administration, the cleric called on Nigerians to cooperate with the government, adding that the Synod was a continuation of the first, which majored on baptism and children.

Johnson urged Christian youths to accord the Lord’s Supper also known as the “Eucharist” its due respect and also to participate in the ceremony for its inherent benefits such as divine healing.
